Our Heritage

OUR STORY

"Latvian Literature" is a platform created to promote Latvian literature and its distribution abroad. We act as a bridge between Latvian authors, publishers, and the international literary world.

Established in 2016, our organization was formed through a collaboration between the International Writers and Translators house and the Latvian Publishers' Association. Our mission is to ensure that the unique voice of Latvian letters is heard across borders, from small independent bookstores in Lisbon to major international book fairs in London and Frankfurt.

We provide support for authors and translators through various grant programs, organize national stands at international book fairs, and maintain a database of the most promising contemporary Latvian works. We believe in the power of a quiet evolution—where the strength of our prose and the depth of our poetry speak for themselves.
